mysqladmin
"mysqladmin
" is a command-line utility bundled with MySQL package (under the "bin
" sub-directory) for the database administrators to perform some basic administrative tasks such as shutting-down the server, setting root password, changing root password, monitoring mysql processes, reloading privileges, checking server status etc.
Shutting-down Server Safely
$ mysqladmin -u root -p shutdown
Setting root's Password
$ mysqladmin -u root password YOUR_PASSWORD
Changing root's Password
$ mysqladmin -u root -pOLDPASSWORD password NEWPASSWORD

PhpMyAdmin
is a PHP webapp for administrating and manipulating MySQL/MariaDB. PhpMyAdmin is usually bundled with an AMP (Apache-MySQL-PHP) distribution, such as XAMPP.
