8 Research Positions and 2 PhD Scholarships
on Robust AI for Autonomous Driving Perception

The following 8 research positions and 2 PhD scholarships are immediately available at School of Computer Science and Engineering (SCSE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore:

• 3 Research Fellows/Senior Research Fellows (Research Fellow is for PhD degree holder; Senior Research Fellow is for PhD degree holder with at least 4 years postdoc experience.)
• 4 Research Engineers (for Bachelor/Master degree holder)
• 2 PhD students (for Bachelor/Master degree holder)
• 1 (Visiting) Research Assistant (for ongoing Bachelor/Master student)

The successful candidates will conduct research in the topic of robust AI for autonomous driving perception. Detailed research tasks include physical-space adversarial example attacks, applying redundancy and diversity of deep neural networks to harden object detection, depth estimation, and semantic segmentation, as well as maintaining the real-time performance of the hardened AI computing on embedded GPUs (NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin). RGB camera and LiDAR will be the main sensing modalities to be studied, while the project may be extended to address RGB-D camera and mmWave radar. The candidates should be specialized in computer science, computer engineering, or relevant disciplines. The candidates applying the Senior Research Fellow or Research Fellow position should have strong research record, preferrably on top-tier computer science/engineering conferences. The candidates applying the Research Engineer position or PhD scholarship are expected to have hands-on experiences with computer systems and ethusiams for experimentation-grounded systems research.

The research project is led by Assoc Prof. Rui Tan and Assoc Prof. Jun Luo at NTU SCSE, and co-led by several other professors. Researchers on the project will also have international collaborations with experts in the topic.
