Composites with Delaminations Ü
Laminated Composites with Multiple Delaminations
As a result of impact, initial air entrapment, or damage during service, delaminations develop in laminated composites. These delaminations serious reduced the ability of the composites to resist inplane compression load. The natural frequency of such composite laminates will also change, and alters the dynamic response of such composites laminates.
The project aims to study,
1) The effectiveness of stitching as a repairing technique, i.e., how stitching will change the fracture toughness and the resistance of the laminates against impact;
2) How natural frequency for free vibration of the composite laminates will be
changed by the delaminations as well as the stitching;
3) How buckling, post buckling are influenced by the presence of multiple
delaminations as well as the stitching.
