RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

 

Somen Kumar Bhudolia received his MSc in Aerospace Engineering from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, and Technical University of Munich, Germany (Joint Degree Program). He worked as Lecturer for 1 year in School of Mech Engg, KIIT, Bhubaneswar, India, and as Research Associate in School of Mech and Aerospace Engg, NTU, Singapore for year and a half. He is currently pursuing a joint industrial PhD at NTU on Composites for Sports Appliances. To date he has presented 6 conference papers and has 1 journal publication. His research interests are – design, fabrication and testing of advance composite materials, thermoplastics, thin ply NCFs, microwave curing of composites, NDT and fatigue analysis.

Mahesh .S. received his Bachelors’ Degree in Mech Engg from University of Newcastle, Australia, in 2010, with Class 1 Honors. He worked previously as a Military Expert (Engineer) for the Republic of Singapore Armed Forces (RSAF). Mahesh had participated in 7th International Conference on Materials for Advanced Technologies 2013 held in Singapore, where he presented a paper on “A New Phenomenon of Compressive Strain Recovery in Gelatin-silica Aerogel Composites with SDS” and a poster on “Brittle to Ductile Transitions in Silica Aerogel Behaviour with Post Synthesis Binding Treatment”. He has published an article titled “High strain recovery with improved mechanical properties of gelatin–silica aerogel composites post-binding treatment” in Journal of Material Science in August 2013. Mahesh has a patent pending titled “Compressibility, Strain Recovery and Hydrophobicity in Silica Aerogel Composites” (TD/181/13).

 

Ganapathi A. S. has successfully completed his PhD degree in the area of manufacturing of thick composites in 2016. He received his Bachelors (2006) and Master’s Degree (2009) in Aeronautical Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, India. He worked as an Aircraft Stress Engineer in Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bangalore, India from 2007 to 2011. Dr. Mubarak Ali Mohamed Ali received his B.Tech in Production Engg from MIT, Anna University, Chennai in 2003.  He worked for 2.5 years in Samtel Color limited, India, in the area of manufacturing of display devices.  Later he completed his M.S. at the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, in Metallurgical and Materials Engg in 2008.  He then worked for a short while as research associate in Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India.  In 2009, he joined for PhD degree in the School of Mech and Aerospace Engg, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. His Ph.D research was on impact behavior of prepreg laminates with particulates at ply interfaces and he successfully defended his thesis in June 2014. He also worked as a Research Associate at Satellite Research Centre in NTU. Currently, he is an Adhoc Faculty at Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Calicut Kerala, India. Mr Vishwesh Dikshit received his Bachelor of Technology degree in Mech Engg from Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow, India in 2004. He earned a Master of Technology degree in Production Engg from National Institute of Technology, India in 2007.  He commenced his Ph.D. study on manufacturing and performance Studies of composites with nano–reinforced ply interfaces in January 2008, which he successfully completed in April 2015. His current research interests are in multiscale composites and their modeling.

Boon Yi Di received his Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engg from National University of Singapore in 2008. He worked as a Research Officer at the Institute of High Performance Computing for 2 years and as an Engineer at Kaer Pte Ltd for 1 year. He is currently pursuing his PhD degree at School of Mech and Aerospace Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. His research topic is on failure evaluation of filament wound composite risers.

Renming studied at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), China from 1997 –2001 for his Bachelor of Engineering. Subsequently, he joined Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in Sep 2001 to pursue PhD under the primary supervision of A/P Sunil C Joshi in the School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering. He researched “Manufacturing and in-service behavior of plasma-sprayed alumina as thermal control coating for micro-satellites”. He graduated in April 2005.
