Facilities & Experimental Techniques

We have a well-equipped optical spectroscopy laboratory for both steady state and transient spectroscopy. In addition, we have a nitrogen glove box system with a connected evaporator system for organic thin film and device fabrication; and sample preparation.

Our experimental techniques include:

  1. UV-VIS and IR Steady State Photoluminescence (PL) Spectroscopy
  2. Transient PL or Time-Resolved PL (TR-PL) Spectroscopy
  3. Femtosecond Transient Absorption Spectroscopy (TAS) 每 (white light probe from 450 nm 每 1600 nm)
  4. Spatially-resolved TR-PL
  5. Spatially-resolved TAS
  6. Magneto-optical Spectroscopy
  7. Two-Photon Photoemission (2PPE) Spectroscopy
  8. Time-Resolved 2PPE (TR-2PPE) Spectroscopy
  9. X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and UV Photoelectron Spectroscopy (UPS)

Our key equipment include:

  • 1 mJ, 1kHz, 150 fs Coherent Legend Regenerative Amplifier pumping a TOPAS Optical Parametric Amplifier (OPA) 每 (236 nm 每 2600 nm)
  • 4 mJ, 1kHz, 50 fs Coherent Libra Regenerative Amplifier pumping two Opera Solo OPAs (290 nm 每 2600 nm)
  • 76 MHz, 100 fs Coherent Mira Oscillator
  • Two units of Optronis Optoscope Streak Camera System (detection range: 350 每 950 nm; 6 ps time resolution; and time window: 300 ps 每 100 ms)
  • 7T Oxford Magneto-Optical Cryostat
  • Various Optical and Microscopy Cryostats
  • Various Spectrometers equipped with point and array detectors covering 300 每 1700 nm
  • X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy System
