YONG Group: Theoretical Biological & Statistical Physics

Welcome!
This is the research group website of Ee Hou YONG.
I am an assistant professor at the Division of Physics and Applied Physics in the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
Our group works on theoretical problems in biological and statistical physics, ranging from the morphology of living systems, Physics of non-equilibrium complex systems, collective behavior in nature, topology-enhanced physical models for biopolymer, etc. Please see the Research page for a summary of our research work.
Recent Highlights & News
[Oct 2025] Our paper “G4STAB: A multi-input deep learning model to predict G-quadruplex thermodynamic stability based on sequence and salt concentration” has been published in Bioinformatics.
[Sep 2025] I was invited to speak at the 2025 HPC Users Symposium. The title of my talk is "Simulations and Learning in biological systems: From Non-Equilibrium Ribbons to DNA G-Quadruplexes". See program.
[July 2025] My paper “Lyapunov–Schmidt bifurcation analysis of a supported compressible elastic beam,” co-authored with Prof L. Mahadevan from Harvard University, has been published in Nonlinearity.
[July 2025] I was invited to speak at the 25th International Conference on Computational Science. The title of my talk is "Understanding Complex Systems in Nature". I co-organized the Asian Network of Complexity Scientists Workshop with Kang Hao Cheong.
[Mar 2025] I was invited to speak at the inaugural Gerophysics 2025 organized by Prof Brian Kennedy, A/P Jan Gruber, and Dr Max Unfried. My talk "Understanding Evolution, Ageing, and Repair using Complex Network" is on YouTube.
[Mar 2025] I presented "Deep Learning Framework for G-Quadruplex Stability Prediction" at the APS March meeting 2025 at Anaheim, CA, USA. This research was conducted by my students, Donn Liew, Akesha Dinuli Dharmatilleke, and Edwin See.
