2021 Best Research Paper Award (with Renchi Yang, Xiaokui Xiao, Jieming Shi, Yin Yang, Juncheng Liu) in VLDB 2021 for the paper titled Scaling Attributed Network Embedding to Massive Graphs.
2020 ACM Distinguished Member (ACM Distinguished Scientist).
2019 The paper titled Typicality-based Identification of Across-time Comparable Entity Pairs in News Archives (along with Yijun Duan, Adam Jatowt, Masatoshi Yoshikawa) was selected as one of the best papers in DASFAA 2019 (invited submission to DSE)
2015 The paper titled GetReal: Towards Realistic Selection of Influence Maximization Strategies in Competitive Networks (along with Hui Li, Jiangtao Cui, Yunjun Gao, Jianfeng Ma) was Nominated for the Best Paper Award in ACM SIGMOD 2015.
2012 The paper titled Stars on Steroids: Fast Evaluation of Multi-source Star Twig Queries in Path Materialization-based XML Databases (with E Leonardi, F Li) was selected as one of the best in DASFAA 2012 (invited submission to DKE)
2011 Best Paper Award (with B.-S Seah, C.F. Dewey, H. Yu) in ACM BCB 2011 for the paper titled FUSE: Towards Multi-Level Functional Summarization of Protein Interaction Networks.
2010 Finalist of ACM Multimedia Grand Challenge (ACM MM 2010) for the system Searching and Browsing Social Images Through iAVATAR, Firenze, Italy. 
2009 Nominated for the Best Paper Award in First ACM International Workshop on Social Media for the paper titled Image Tag Clarity: In Search of Visual-Representative Tags for Social Images.
2004 Efficient Recursive XML Query Processing Using Relational Database Systems (with S Prakash, S Madria) was selected as one of the best papers in ER 2004 (invited submission to DKE)
2004 Best Interdisciplinary Paper Award (with Q Zhao, M Mohania, Y Kambayashi) in ACM CIKM 2004 for the paper titled Discovering Frequently Changing Structures from Historical Structural Deltas of Unordered XML.
